The pre-release event for the upcoming dark comedy, "Gurram Paapireddy," was elevated by the presence and impassioned plea of legendary comedian Brahmanandam. The veteran artist, who plays an important role in the film, called upon Telugu audiences to actively encourage and support new-age films like this one. Starring Naresh Agastya and Faria Abdullah and directed by Murali Manohar, the film, which promises a never-before-seen concept, is set for a worldwide release on December 19th.

Brahmanandam’s Endorsement: A Storyteller’s Perspective

Brahmanandam revealed his enthusiasm for the project, stating, “I played an important role in ‘Gurram Paapireddy’ as a judge who narrates the story to the audience. This is a different story, and director Murali Manohar presented it in a new way suitable for today’s audiences.”

His key message at the event focused on the future of the industry: "If audiences support new-age films made by newcomers like this, the industry will grow and give them opportunities to make more good films." He praised the producers—Venu Saddi, Amar Bura, and Jayakanth (Bobby)—for their commitment to quality without compromise. The veteran comedian also highlighted the special attraction of Tamil actor Yogi Babu’s role, confirming that his hilarious comedy would be a major plus point, despite not sharing any combination scenes with him.

Breaking the Formula: A New Cinematic Experience

The film's team consistently emphasised their deliberate departure from conventional commercial cinema. Dialogue writer Niranjan acknowledged the risk involved, noting, “These days, it feels scary to say we are making a new kind of film. If it’s a regular commercial movie, people feel it’s the same old formula. We made this film differently to give audiences a new cinematic experience.”

Director Murali Manohar echoed this sentiment, becoming visibly emotional as he thanked his producers for granting him complete creative freedom. He stressed that the entire team was united by the goal of showcasing a new kind of film to Telugu audiences, one that is fresh yet remains rooted in local nativity and culture.

Highlighting Talent and Unique Performance

The lead actors and technicians shared their dedication to the unconventional project. Naresh Agastya, who plays the titular role, spoke about the challenge and joy of appearing in three to four different getups, including an arduous old-age look, demonstrating his commitment to the role.

Faria Abdullah, who stars as Soudhamini, praised the film's dark comedy genre and her multi-faceted contribution: “In this movie, I wrote, sang, and choreographed a song.” Music director Krishna Saurabh also garnered appreciation for composing songs in "new genres" and for his impressive background score, which he helped take the film to "another level."

Producer Amar Bura confirmed that the film has been generating strong buzz, with distributors focusing solely on the exceptional content after viewing the trailer. He and his co-producers hope the film’s unique concept—a comedy revolving around a conman, a group of friends, and the attempted theft of a dead body—will resonate widely, enabling their collaborative filmmaking journey to continue.

As Gurram Paapireddy gears up for its release, the collective appeal from the team, spearheaded by a legend like Brahmanandam, calls for audience encouragement not just for the film itself, but for the spirit of creativity and content-driven storytelling in the industry.
