Sattamum Needhiyum series plot:

After her father Kuppusamy sets himself on fire inside the courtroom, Sundara Moorthy (Saravanan), a public rotary who does not have a successful career, takes up the case of a missing girl. A young law practitioner, Aruna (Namritha MV), helps him. The two find themselves solving a complex mystery while being confronted by a well-known and influential public prosecutor in what appears to be a simple case.

Sattamum Needhiyum series review:

It's intriguing and well-supported that Sundara Moorthy accepted Kuppusamy's case. The fact that he doesn't care about the guy who burned himself inside the courthouse walls, the strange disappearance of a little girl, or the fact that the police and the legal system haven't helped the folks in need isn't the case. However, the aging protagonist feels it more personally when Sundara Moorthy feels humiliated about his inability to pursue a career in law in front of his son, and when his daughter suspects that her father is not suited for legal reasoning. It is a personal struggle, maybe an ongoing midlife crisis that is internalized and redirected into a path for an underdog to achieve his heroic moment. Lawyers are not uncommon to encounter horrific cases, but Sundara Moorthy takes up the case when it puts his existence in jeopardy, giving Sattamum Needhiyum a strong start.

Sattamum Needhiyum adheres to the standard underdog formula. When Kuppusamy's self-immolation is restricted to being a notary public, it lays the groundwork for a larger case. Through Aruna, who joins Sundara Moorthy, we begin to understand who he is; a man who is proficient in the law and has assisted her in locating legal arguments for her mock court sessions. The courtroom drama starts here, with the main elements appearing in the first few episodes: a well-known and powerful attorney for the defense, little hard evidence, and strong support for the opposition. However, Sattamum Needhiyum skillfully employs its episodic break to reveal a twist and a hook for the following. The series is able to advance the story that nearly gets it right thanks to the courtroom genre, and the short running time that is characteristic of a film is a bonus.

The final few episodes of Sattamum Needhiyum are a bit generic, despite Saravanan's sincere creation and sensitive depiction of Sundara Moorthy. The writing obviously chooses to eschew clich narrative, but it manages to return to the single topic of a gender-based crime. Despite the fact that the subject is at the center, Sattamum Needhiyum still utilizes it as the main plot to develop its climax, albeit without going into too much detail. However, the narrative leading up to that point promises honesty. Namrita, who is much younger, assists Saravanan in solving the crime while he portrays the elderly lead character, which allows him to gain a significant amount of screen time in a positive manner. However, the series misses the mark because the narrative is told in a hurried manner, making it seem complicated, had it been further developed in the direction of the last several episodes, when the unraveling starts. We are transferred from one character to the next in a short amount of time, and the action keeps jumping, which occasionally makes it difficult to follow the revelation.

In its attempt to create a new making, Sattamum Needhiyum is almost successful. Despite the obvious hiccups, there is a sense of clarity that permeates the narrative. Sattamum Needhiyum would have been a more captivating watch if it had considered extending the disclosure a little bit in advance and allowing it some breathing room. However, the series comes close to getting it right, thanks to its honest performance and few distractions.
