The Tale of Bhairavam

In a little town, three best friends are Gajapathi Varma (Manchu Manoj), Varadha (Nara Rohith), and Seenu (Bellamkonda Sai Sreenivas). When a politician enters the picture and focuses on a temple property worth ₹1000 crore, their friendship suddenly changes course. As the plot becomes more complex, misconceptions occur between the pals, and chaos breaks out. The main plot of the movie is how everything is resolved at the conclusion.

Review of Bhairavam

Vijay Kanakamedala, who is well-known for his popular movie Naandhi, starring Allari Naresh, directed the official remake of the Tamil blockbuster Garudan, which is titled Bhairavam. The remake has a star cast that includes well-known performers Bellamkonda Sreenivas, Nara Rohith, and Manchu Manoj in the key roles. The remake appeals to the lead actors' fans by focusing on a hero-oriented storyline and incorporating several mass scenes. For this reason, the film's opening minutes are devoted to introducing the heroes.

Although these introductions are well done, they take up a lot of time, leaving the director with little opportunity to develop the main narrative. The tale seems hurried at first, and just as the audience is getting into the narrative, there is a plot twist, and it is already time for the intermission.

There are a lot of business aspects in Bhairavam, and in the first half, Bellamkonda Sreenivas and other performers are mostly utilized for action and song choreography. But during the pre-interval segment, director Vijay throws a fascinating curveball that increases the movie's excitement. The interval bang, which focuses on land documents, and the excitement that comes along with it are captivating.

As a remake, Bhairavam also has an old-school appeal and a clear Tamil flavour throughout. The second half is somewhat engaging because of its suspense and excitement, as well as a decent quantity of action. But one of the film's biggest flaws is its lack of emotional substance. The story feels uneven because some of the characters are not fully developed.

Despite the rapid speed, the screenplay frequently fails to hold the audience's attention. Predictable, formulaic events that disrupt the rhythm often occur after a compelling sequence. In terms of performances, Manchu Manoj, well known for Okkadu Migiladu and Jhummandi Nadam, has made a respectable comeback. The movie's tone is complemented by his somewhat dramatic performance. It's wonderful to watch him in action moments again, and he doesn't let you down.

Nara Rohith gives a strong performance and turns out to be a surprise package in the movie. He is well-known for his acting ability, and he does a great job in his supporting role. Bellamkonda Sreenivas is capable but underutilized. Despite his mastery of the dance and combat sequences, he still has room for improvement in emotional scenes. With Bhairavam, all three performers live up to the hype and make a comeback.

The comedic part played by Vennela Kishore is a letdown because it is not effective. In the traditional grandmother role, Jayasudha performs well. Sricharan Pakala's music falls short of the mark when it comes to tunes, but he excels at the background score, which enhances the tension in crucial moments. The thrill factor is increased by the outstanding action scenes.

The village backdrop, cinematography, and production design are well-done. With an emphasis on mass appeal and more action, Bhairavam is a true recreation of Garudan. The film's primary selling point is the inclusion of three well-known actors, even if the emotional center is missing.

Verdict from Bhairavam

Overall, Bhairavam has good action and amazing performances, but its outdated approach and absence of emotional complexity are a letdown. This movie may be worth seeing if you like action dramas set in rural environments.
