The plot of the 3BHK movie:

Vasudevan and his wife Shanthi, a middle-class family, have no other goals than to accumulate money and purchase their own home with their two kids, Prabhu and Aarti. As they go through a lot over a period of time, the dream appears to be easier to write on paper than to carry out. But do they now have a roof over their heads?

Review of 3 BHK:

What does home mean? There could be a million thoughts and feelings associated with the response. However, for the majority, it denotes a geographical location with its own roof, comprising a kitchen where homemade food is prepared, a washroom that is their sanctuary, and a bedroom whose floor plan is at their fingertips. The situation is no less dissimilar for Vasudevan's family. It is only natural that Vasudevan (Sarathkumar), Shanthi (Devyani), Prabhu (Siddharth), and Aarti (Meetha Raghunath) would want a space they call their own after battling for their own rooms, being inundated by rainwater, dealing with rising rent and shrinking space, and other things. 3BHK has presented the ideal scenario for every middle-class family, and it also includes an emotional drama that has its heart in the correct place, which makes you inclined to overlook some of its melodrama.

3BHK moves through the various stages of Vasudevan's family, and despite being told that it is the dream of all four of them to purchase a home, the film primarily takes the sides of men in mapping out the screenplay, even though it is the women, in this case Aarti, who maps out the purchasing plan. The tale of Vasudevan's fight to switch from ledgers to computers and Prabhu's transformation into one of the sheep in the herd seeking for a well-paying career. Vasudevan passes the Tally software exam that his job requires him to update, while Prabhu quit his IT position in order to seek employment on a factory floor with a mechanical focus in a wonderful exchange of ideology. When this happens, 3BHK becomes genuine and grounded in its middle-class beginnings. In these kinds of environments, 3BHKs do well.

The movie is also true to its middle-class mindset setting, in which men are granted the upper hand; for example, when Prabhu, who is not a bright student, attends private school while Aarti, who is a bright student, attends government school. 3BHK often discusses patriarchy. Aarti's significance is less shown than said, even if we can see Prabhu's repeated failures and opportunities are given a lion's share of attention. The film doesn't want to focus on the men, but rather on the middle class, where women obviously take a back seat. 3BHK is a film that shows that money sometimes plays the deciding role, as seen by how Prabhu's marriage is arranged with an alliance (which feels like he is being sold) until he finally makes his own decision for the first time in his life. 3BHK is in that area where it chooses to display the discriminatory reality while also almost not calling it out.

Without a doubt, 3BHK is a movie that is driven by its actors, with Chaithra Achar's Tamil debut (read in this specific order) and the real performances of Siddharth, Meetha, Sarathkumar, and Devyani supporting them. The film operates on a level of honesty, the sheer ambition that motivates the middle class to put more effort into competing in a society where victory is not easy. However, it feels personal when they do it.

3BHK has its ups and downs. The film presents the reality and its shortcomings as they are. There is no fluff, and no effort is made to bring it up either. The defects are clear with the heart in the right place, but you can pardon them if the movie accurately depicts the harsh reality of society and daily life. The melodrama is abundant and occasionally a bit excessive, but you let it linger when the movie is grounded in reality, much like 3BHK, which is a roomy, affectionate film despite the melodrama.

Review of the 3BHK:

3BHK is all about aspirations, tenacity, and having heart in the right place. The picture has such a warm atmosphere that one may overlook a few chilly looks. Even if it might not be your typical cup of tea that makes you hooked, it's the warm, soothing, and comforting hot chocolate. The movie lauds dreams, as well as the challenges that come with them, through realistic moments and excellent acting. An excellent movie.
