The liver is key to removing toxins, helping with digestion, and keeping you healthy. But most people only notice problems when something goes wrong. Dr. Kavya Dendukuri, a gastroenterologist, shared five early signs her May 31 post that your liver may be in trouble. These signs are easy to overlook but very important to spot early. Here’s what you should look out for.
Many ignore the little signals the body gives, thinking it’s just stress or aging. But these small signs could mean your liver is having a hard time detoxing, balancing hormones, or keeping your metabolism in check, Dr. Kavya explained. She also pointed out some quiet signs of bad liver health that people often miss:
1. Waking up feeling bloated or tired
If mornings are filled with bloating or low energy, plus nausea or little appetite, your liver might be having trouble.
2. Not feeling hungry or feeling sick often
If you find yourself skipping meals or feeling sick without a clear reason, it could be a sign of liver problems.
3. Stubborn belly fat
Gaining weight around your middle that doesn't go away may mean your liver isn't breaking down fat properly.
4. Dark patches on your face, neck, or armpits
Dark spots on these areas can be a sign from your liver. They often come with insulin resistance and stress on your liver.
5. Pain or tightness on the right side of your belly
Pain or a feeling of tightness in the upper right part of your stomach can point to liver inflammation.
6. Constant tiredness even after resting
If you're still worn out after a good sleep or a break, your liver could be the reason.
