With his newest romantic drama, Saiyaara, which stars Ananya Panday's cousin Ahaan Panday in his Bollywood debut, filmmaker Mohit Suri makes a return. Following the release of the movie, Ahaan's previous videos, in which he replicated Shah Rukh Khan's legendary moments from films like Mohabbatein and Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, went viral online, sparking widespread outrage. Mohit has now disclosed in a Radio Nasha interview that Ahaan nearly missed out on the part in Saiyaara as a result of those videos.

Mohit refuted the rumors that Ahaan was nearly turned down for Saiyaara because of his Shah Rukh Khan imitation videos, adding, "Usne bhut pehle, industry main aane se pehle kuch kiya tha." My wife saw it and thought it was really cute. I had not seen it (He had done something a long time ago, before entering the industry. I hadn't seen it, but my wife did, and she thought it was really charming. People were asking him, "Do you want to do mimicry or become an actor?" so he had removed it by the time I found him. After reading the script, Adi sir told me, "I have a guy who's perfect for you," when I arrived, and he introduced me to Ahaan. However, since Ahaan was giving auditions at the moment, he wasn't going to be able to get the movie.

"I met him, and even in his behavior, I didn’t see anything that matched the character in my film," he said, adding that he originally thought Ahaan was completely unlike the protagonist in Saiyaara. I said to Adi that "he's nothing like what you're saying" since he's a really lovely, nice kid. After that, Adi advised, "Just do one thing — have dinner with him and let him know he's not getting the part." I spent the night with him till three in the morning. I could see my character in him by the end of the evening. I have not yet seen his Shah Rukh Khan impersonation video. He's a really nasty man; after finishing the movie, he sent me all of his awful audition videos on WhatsApp with the message, "Look who you've cast."
