The unfortunate events that took place in Bengaluru during RCB's IPL festivities cast a shadow of sadness over cricketer Virat Kohli and actor Anushka Sharma as they arrived back in Mumbai. The stampede incident in Bengaluru, which resulted in 11 fatalities and 33 injuries, detracted from the jubilation surrounding RCB's IPL triumph.

Virat and Anushka are in Mumbai

Images of Virat and Anushka returning to Mumbai were taken on Thursday. While Anushka kept it laid-back with jeans and a simple black T-shirt, Virat went for a beige shirt and jeans ensemble along with his trademark cap for his airport look. They were both scowling.

Virat and Anushka kept a low profile at the airport, avoiding engaging with or striking a position for the photographers who were there. They maintained a serious expression as they moved quickly to their car. They also didn't grin much.

During the franchise's Indian Premier League (IPL) victory party on Wednesday, a stampede outside Bengaluru's M Chinnaswamy Stadium resulted in 11 fatalities and 33 injuries. As a result of the mayhem and the police officers' inability to handle a congested audience, what was supposed to be a memorable day for the RCB supporters in Bengaluru turned out to be a nightmare.

The Bengaluru stampede tragedy elicits a response from Virat and Anushka

Following the stampede, Virat, a standout performer for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), was "at a loss for words." The official statement from RCB about the stampede was posted by Virat on Instagram. “At a loss for words. Completely devastated," said the right-handed hitter in the caption.

"We are profoundly saddened by the regrettable events that have come to light via media accounts concerning public gatherings across Bengaluru in expectation of the team's arrival this afternoon," the official RCB statement said. We prioritize everyone's safety and well-being above all else.

"RCB mourns the tragic loss of lives and offers our sincere sympathies to the afflicted families. As soon as we became aware of the problem, we immediately changed our program in response to the local government's recommendations. The statement went on to say, "We implore all our supporters to please remain safe."

The letter, which displayed her emotional condition, was also shared by Anushka on her Instagram account. In response to the tragedy, the actor uploaded the team's formal statement to Instagram and included a line of sad emojis. After beating the Punjab Kings in the championship game in Ahmedabad on Tuesday, RCB had won the IPL 2025 title.
