The release of his new Netflix special, Fool Volume, has Vir Das basking in its glory. Through a video on the streets of New York, he has now discovered a humorous way to promote his new program. In a video by content maker Feroz Khan Zadran, who frequently uploads videos of everyday folks discussing their occupations, Vir was highlighted.

The comedic way in which Vir discussed his name and said his family had created poha was what made the video so amusing. The video was initially cross-posted by Vir, who then posted it to his X account.

Vir's words

"I create snack," Vir says in the video. My name is Rajinder. Do you know about Poha? It resembles an Indian snack. It was created by my family. My name is Rajinder Poha. We've been doing it for 300 years. My stand-up comedy moniker is Vir Das, and I perform under that name as well. I'm available on Netflix. I am Rajinder Poha for the most part, however I also have a new special called Fool Volume. It's similar to alcohol and a trace amount of carbs and spices.

Vir is then asked about his time management, and in a deadpan manner, he says, "I do poha in the day and standup at night." I will sometimes prepare poha at night if I'm hungry! Last night, I came here to perform stand-up, and this morning, I'm simply having meetings about poha. I believe Americans are prepared for poha!

“Finally happened. Got stopped on the street in New York,” Vir said in the video's caption.

The fans' response

"Only Vir can do this! (laughing face emoticon)," wrote well-known photographer Daboo Ratnani. In the Instagram video's comments area, actors Mrunal Thakur and Shreya Chaudhry added laugh emojis.

“Some people in the comments are taking this too seriously, it’s just Rajinder Poha doing his promo man!” a fan joked. "Despite knowing him, I still believed him for a moment when he was so serious about Poha," a second fan said.

Vir's most recent stand-up special, Fool Volume, was made available on Netflix on July 18.
