In all his promotional interviews for his next release Maadeva, directed by Naveen Reddy, Fighter actor Vinnod Prabhakar has been effusive about the platform he was given to show audiences that he can do more than just fight. Vinnod has spoken at length about the fact that his earlier films have largely been about having a set number of fight sequences and songs, which would fetch decent returns for Hindi dubbing rights, but always lacked substance as far as the story goes.

According to him, the shift will occur with Maadeva and will also be apparent in his forthcoming lineup, which will feature movies such as Lankasura, Nelson, and Balaramana Dinagalu. "After Maadeva, there will be a marked change in the kind of scripts written for me. Nelson sees me playing a 55-year-old, but Lankasura is a home production. All of these films have performance-based roles, similar to Maadeva, which will demonstrate to audiences that I am capable of more than simply fighting. All of them have provided me a stage to demonstrate my versatility as an artist," Vinnod adds.

Vinnod claims that over the course of his more than 20-year career, he has engaged in several bouts of self-reflection to determine the cause of his mistakes in film and role selection, as well as in his acting. In his first film, he believes, the issue arose from the audience's high expectations of him, who were hoping to witness what they had loved in all of his father's works. "Nowadays, my approach has shifted along with my choice of roles; I'm better prepared as an actor and I'm not ready to make any more mistakes," he says.

Although Vinnod is thrilled by his accomplishments in Maadeva, he acknowledges that the theatrical debut makes him anxious, given the current state of the Kannada cinema industry, where moviegoers are few and far between. “While we haven’t produced an exceptional picture, what I can guarantee is a fun experience for every viewer,” he claims.
