The Fuel Fest in the United States saw Vin Diesel reunite with his Fast and Furious co-stars Tyrese Gibson and Cody Walker on Saturday. Variety reported that Vin shared with fans what to anticipate from the last movie in the series, Fast and Furious 11, and hinted the comeback of Paul Walker's persona. The internet's reaction was divided.
In Fast and Furious 11, Paul Walker will make a comeback, according to Vin Diesel
Fast and Furious 11 is expected to be released in April 2027, Vin announced to a group of followers. "The studio said to me, Vin, can we please have the finale of Fast and Furious [in] April 2027? I said, under three conditions." He also hinted about Paul's return. The priority is to return the franchise to Los Angeles! The second thing was to return to the street racing scene and the car culture. Bringing Brian O'Conner and Dom back together was the third step.
For those who are unfamiliar, Paul portrayed Brian O'Conner, a police officer who becomes a street racer, in the movie series. Since the actor passed away at the age of 40 in 2013 in a car accident, it's unknown if Vin is referring to vintage film or if AI will be utilized to digitally add him into the movie.
The Internet reacts
Paul's return to the last Fast and Furious picture received a mixed reaction from franchise enthusiasts. "But why, man? He had such a wonderful send-off." One Instagram user said, "The last Fast and Furious movie was Fast and Furious 7 when the white car drove away while Charlie Puth and Wiz Khalifa were singing See You Again," while another wrote, "Let him rest in peace."
Some pondered whether the well-known tune See You Again would reappear, losing its power, "See you again part 2?" while others made fun of it, calling it "Fast and furious: the conjuring." One irate supporter exclaimed, "Enough is enough." The distinction between grieving and missing someone and being obsessive and manipulative is subtle. This applies to many people, including Paul, Aliyah, Selena, Tupac, and Biggie. Give them a break!
But some fans appeared pleased by the announcement, hoping to see Paul one last time: "Great call he was a huge part of the franchise he absolutely needs to be included in the final movie in someway shape or form. If he weren't, it would be wrong.
Regarding Fast and Furious
The Fast and the Furious, which debuted in theaters in 2001, launched the franchise. In May 2023, Fast X, the franchise's final installment, made its debut, earning over $700 million globally. It was billed as a two-part saga, starring Brie Larson, Jason Momoa, Alan Ritchson, Rita Moreno, Michelle Rodriguez, and Vin Diesel. Thus, after a significant delay, it remains to be seen if Fast and Furious 11 will continue the narrative of Fast X.
