Actor Vijay Deverakonda has weighed in on the shifting patterns in the Indian film industry, which is becoming more and more characterized by big-budget extravaganzas. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, Vijay talked about audiences' desensitization to emotions and lamented the lack of movies that touch the heart.

The pressure that actors encounter when choosing scripts, according to Vijay Deverakonda

Vijay discussed the paucity of films that make people laugh and posed the question of whether male actors are under pressure to choose scripts that offer them a chance to achieve a ₹1000 crore blockbuster. He said, "Yes, definitely you want to grow, you want the maximum number of people to enjoy your films. A little, well-liked movie doesn't give us any joy. I don't know a lot of people who do. Since you must select a specific genre of movie, this begins to restrict your options. Due to the abundance of material, our budgets and pay have increased, and I also have the impression that we are becoming more and more desensitized to emotions. To elicit an emotional response from people, we need to keep raising the bar.

He continued, "I believe that's why heroism is evolving into an almost opposing kind of heroism; the action is becoming very bloody. In order to press buttons harder, you must encourage them. Due to so much excitement, I believe we are becoming desensitized to everything. Your level of excitement is so great that you must raise the bar in order to maintain people's interest. You need to constantly increase the stakes. Otherwise, why do we have to include so much carnage and action? The amount of flesh and skin I see across all platforms is on a different level.

Additionally, he said that at a certain moment, this would become commonplace, and viewers would want even more excitement. He said that because it has gotten more and more difficult to keep the audience interested on television, one must, as an actor, make sure that the screenplay is captivating enough.
