Vidya Balan is a fan of Kareena Kapoor Khan, Tabu and Kriti Sanon’s Crew. The actress compared the movie featuring three actresses to what appears to be the trend of macho blockbusters. She went on to speak about how Crew, directed by Rajesh A Krishnan, is changing a lot in the Hindi industry. Vidya even cited examples of how Crew is different from what is touted as macho blockbusters of today’s time.

What Vidya said

While talking to The Indian Express’ Expresso, Vidya began by saying, “Not all macho blockbusters are doing well. We need to remember that.”

She went on to call Crew ‘so much fun’ and spoke about how the three women who were leading the movie did not take themselves too seriously at all, which made it so much fun to watch. “It thrills me to see a film with three women and at the age they’re at, is doing so well,” she explained, further stating that the movie is changing a lot (in the industry) and we as viewers are mere witnesses to it.

Crew performing well in the midst of Shaitaan success

Men have paved the way in the industry since the past two years. 2023 began with a bang, when Shah Rukh Khan introduced Pathaan (his comeback movie) and needless to say, the film was a big hit. This was followed by the success of his own film, Jawan, directed by Atlee. Giving him competition was Sunny Deol’s Gadar 2 and eventually, Ranbir Kapoor-led Animal. 2024 also marked huge with Ajay Devgn-R Madhavan’s Shaitaan and Crew, led by women, is giving the film some tough competition at the Box Office.

Vidya being one of the actresses to pave the way for women-led film

Vidya has always picked up scripts where she plays a powerful woman who leads a life that has extraordinary in the ordinary. Be it playing Silk Smitha biopic in Dirty Picture, a distraught wife and mother in Kahaani or a passionate worker binded by the societal rules in Sherni, Vidya has paved the way for women empowerment in movies time-after-time. The actress is now seen in Do Aur Do Pyaar opposite Pratik Gandhi.
