Vidya Balan, a Bollywood actress, has always been outspoken about her love for Malayalam cinema and her Malayali ancestry. The Bhool Bhulaiyaa actress, who routinely publishes reels on her social media site, recently posted a video in which she reenacts a well-known scene from the movie Punjabi House, which stars Malayalam actor Harisree Ashokan.

Vidya Balan recreates the amusing scenario in Punjabi House.

The actress performed a scene from the 1998 movie in which Harisree Ashokan's character tries to talk to a cook in a Punjabi household. He tried to tell her in broken Hindi that he liked rice over chapati. This is where Harisree Ashokan's most well-known phrase, "Chapathi nahi nahi...Chor," came from.

Several Malayalam actors, including Aishwarya Lekshmi and Arya Babu, as well as Vidya Balan's admirers, praised her in the comments section beneath her post. Her excellent reenactment of this well-known scene from Punjabi House has also earned her numerous accolades. After running in theaters for over 100 days in 1998, Punjabi House became a smash at the box office. Dileep, Mohini, Lal, Cochin Haneefa, and Janardhanan all play significant roles in this classic comedy drama.

The actress also recreated a hilarious scene from Mookilla Rajyathu, one of the well-known Malayalam comedy films, last year. Shortly after this video, several people expressed their enthusiasm for seeing Vidya in a Malayalam film.

Vidya Balan's Malayalam films

Although Vidya Balan was raised in Mumbai, her family is from the Palakkad region of Kerala. She was selected to play the starring role with Mohanlal in the film Chakram. The movie was, however, put on hold due to manufacturing challenges. Another Malayalam movie that Mukesh finished filming in 2003, Kalari Vikraman, was never shown in theaters.

Vidya worked in Bollywood for a while before playing Makkom in Prithviraj Sukumaran's historical drama Urumi, sometimes referred to as Bhoomi, in 2011. The film is currently available on Sun NXT, ZEE5, and OTTplay Premium. She has not appeared in a Malayalam movie since this one. On Netflix, you can find her most recent release, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3.
