Vashu Bhagnani Reflects on ‘Bade Miyan Chote Miyan’ with Ali Abbas Zafar as His ‘Biggest Mistake’

Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, starring Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff, had a great start at the box office, but it ultimately turned out to be a failure. In a recent discussion with Ronak Kotecha on his YouTube channel Reviewron, film producer Vashu Bhagnani discussed the film's failure and stated that it was a mistake to make it with Ali Abbas Zafar.
According to Vashu Bhagnani, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, starring Akshay and Tiger, wasn't particularly outstanding
In a blitz session, when asked about his opinions on Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, Vashu responded that he wished to remove the film from his filmography, saying, "Bahut acchi film thi pehli waali, Amitabh Bachchan aur Govinda waali. The second one was bad. (The first one, which featured Amitabh Bachchan and Govinda, was an excellent movie.) The second one was less impressive.
Vashu Bhagnani describes his collaboration with Ali Abbas Zafar as a blunder
David Dhawan directed the 1998 movie Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, which was produced by Vashu. Govinda and Amitabh Bachchan were the stars of the comedic heist. The same title was used by the filmmaker for an action picture directed by Ali Abbas Zafar in 2024.
"I committed the greatest error by making Bade Miyan Chote Miyan Part 2 with Ali Abbas Zafar," Vashu said as he revealed his desire to recreate Bade Miyan Chote Miyan with David Dhawan. The title perplexed him. We grew weary of reminding him that this is a comedy picture and that, while you may include action, make it an action-comedy at the very least. The title alone made people want to visit my theaters since it was such a gorgeous brand of mine. Because David Dhawan ji has a quick mind when it comes to comedy, I will ask him to produce it with me if he doesn't direct it, and I will ask Rumi Jaffery ji to write the story when I make it again.
Regarding Bade Miyan Chote Miyan
Amitabh Bachchan and Govinda starred in dual roles in the 1998 Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, which also featured Raveena Tandon, Ramya Krishnan, Anupam Kher, and Paresh Rawal. Even though it competed against Karan Johar's Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, the movie was a huge success at the box office.
With a picture of the same name starring Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff, as well as Prithviraj Sukumaran, Manushi Chhillar, and Alaya F, the filmmaker attempted to rekindle the magic in 2024. However, instead of action-comedy, this time it was science-fiction action. Upon its release, the movie was met with mixed to unfavorable reviews. The movie, which was produced for ₹350 crore, had a poor reception when it first came out and ended its theatrical release with a worldwide gross of ₹111.5 crore.
