Vaani Kapoor, an actor, spoke candidly about her experience as an outsider in Bollywood, a business renowned for its tight-knit groups and family legacies. The War performer spoke candidly about getting by in the film business without the security of well-known family members or a support network.

"You have to be your biggest cheerleader"

Vaani, who made her debut in the industry in 2013 alongside Sushant Singh Rajput and Parineeti Chopra in Shuddh Desi Romance, told Siddharth Kannan in an interview that "you have to be your biggest cheerleader in this industry, especially when you are an outsider and don't have a support system." I'm also not very good at networking, and we don't have aunts, uncles, chachas, or chachis who look after us and support us.

Yash Raj Films (YRF), the studio that gave Vaani her break, is credited with revolutionizing her career. "The people and the studio that found me — Yash Raj — are the ones who believed in me. They have been like a family. Any performer who joins them will attest that you feel safe, as if you are in good care.

She also mentioned the industry's uglier side, pointing out that she never had the casting couch experience, which she credits to the professionalism and security she discovered at YRF. Vaani described how Shanoo Sharma helped her family make the choice to send their kid to a new city and pursue a career in the movie industry.
