A legal case registered in Tiruchanur, located in Tirupati district of Andhra Pradesh, has drawn significant public and media attention after veteran actor Mohan Babu and his son, actor Vishnu Manchu, were named among the accused. The case is linked to an alleged kidnapping incident reported on February 3 and involves a total of 13 individuals, including the public relations officer (PRO) of Mohan Babu University.

The matter came to light following a formal complaint filed with the Tiruchanur police, leading to the registration of a First Information Report (FIR) under multiple sections of the Indian Penal Code.

Allegations Raised by Student Union Leader

According to reports, the complaint was lodged by Akbar, a leader of the Students’ Federation of India (SFI). Based on his statement, the police invoked sections related to kidnapping, criminal conspiracy, and physical assault. The complaint alleges that the incident involved coercion and unlawful restraint, prompting authorities to initiate an investigation.

While the police have named several individuals in the FIR, officials have clarified that registration of a case does not amount to proof of guilt. Investigations are currently underway to determine the sequence of events and the extent of involvement of each person mentioned in the complaint.

Counter-Complaint by University Management

Soon after the case was registered in Tiruchanur, a counter-complaint was filed by the public relations officer of Mohan Babu University. In this complaint, the PRO alleged that certain student union leaders deliberately spread false and misleading information on social media platforms with the intention of damaging the reputation of the university.

The counter-complaint further claimed that the individuals involved attempted to pressure the university management by making financial demands. Acting on this complaint, the Chandragiri police registered a separate case against Akbar and others, adding a new dimension to the unfolding situation.

Police Handling Two Parallel Investigations

With complaints filed by both sides, law enforcement agencies are now handling two parallel investigations. Police sources have indicated that statements from all concerned parties will be recorded and digital as well as physical evidence will be examined before any conclusions are drawn.

Officials emphasized that the investigation process will follow due legal procedure and that action will be taken strictly based on verified facts. At this stage, no arrests have been confirmed, and further clarity is expected as inquiries progress.
