Rumors started to circulate in August 2024 that the Century Star of Kannada cinema, Shivarajkumar, was not in good condition. At the last press conference held at his home to announce the conclusion of Arjun Janya's 45, he appeared visibly agitated, but at the time it was stated that he was a little feverish. Shivarajkumar finally revealed what was really happening with him during the promotional tour for Bhairathi Ranagal.

He stated that he was receiving therapy and required surgery, which he traveled to Miami for in December of last year, although he did not specifically state that he was fighting cancer. However, ever since Shivarajkumar came back from the US in January 2025, he and his wife Geetha have been talking about his care, from the original diagnosis to the actual operation. Additionally, they disclosed that Shivarajkumar had completed significant portions of 45, including an action block, after receiving chemotherapy.

After having a neo-bladder reconstruction, Shivarajkumar was pronounced cancer-free. The Hattrick Hero disclosed in one of his media encounters that he had been instructed by his physicians to record the full experience, which he had done, and that it would soon be accessible to the public.

On the actor's birthday, July 12, Shivarajkumar's house flag Geetha Pictures released, "On the day of his birth, comes a story of his rebirth..Officially announcing Survivor, a documentary exploring the story of the actor's sporty, warrior spirit. In August, additional updates are anticipated. Pradeep Sastry is the writer and director of the film, which was produced by Geetha Shivarajkumar.

With 45, the directorial debut of composer Arjun Janya, Shivarajkumar will make his first significant release since undergoing cancer therapy. Shivarajkumar was seen in a little cameo in his daughter Niveditha's debut production effort, Firefly. On August 15, 2025, the movie, which also features Raj B Shetty and Upendra, is scheduled to be released in theaters.
