Sunjay grinned as he embraced Jaisal Singh, donned in a dark blue ensemble. The caption stated, "In memory of our beloved friend Sunjay Kapur, who sadly died on the field a few days ago, we play the final of the Cartier Trophy today." Jaisal Singh, our Patron and Captain, will get on with the squad to pay tribute to his cherished old friend Sunjay with a minute's silence before sitting out in respect (folded hands emoji).

On June 12, Sunjay passed away in England at the age of 53. Suhel Seth, a friend of his, told the news agency ANI that the businessman had a heart attack after apparently ingesting a bee while playing polo in England.

In 2005, Sunjay and Karisma Kapoor welcomed their daughter Samaira, and in 2011, they welcomed their son Kiaan. Karisma and Sanjay sought a divorce by mutual agreement in 2014. They finalized their divorce in 2016. Sunjay wed Priya Sachdev following the divorce.
