Director Sujeeth, riding high on the buzz from his latest release, They Call Him OG, has opened up about an ambitious film that never took off. In a recent conversation, the young filmmaker revealed that after his big-budget directorial Saaho in 2019, he had lined up a London-set action drama with Ram Charan. Unfortunately, the COVID-19 pandemic and industry restrictions during that period forced him to shelve the project before it could move into active development.

The Ram Charan Collaboration That Never Happened

According to Sujeeth, the untitled project was supposed to be his first collaboration with Ram Charan and was planned as a sleek action film against the backdrop of London. “After Saaho, I never wanted to take a break. I was determined to start Charan gaaru’s film,” Sujeeth shared. However, the global pandemic drastically changed production environments, with strict restrictions on overseas filming. This, coupled with shifting industry priorities, meant the project never materialised.

For fans of Ram Charan, who has been riding on the global success of RRR, this missed collaboration remains a significant “what if” moment in Telugu cinema, as Sujeeth’s flair for action could have brought a fresh dimension to the star.

OG Storms Theatres and Sparks Discussion

While the Charan project didn’t move forward, Sujeeth has bounced back in style with They Call Him OG, which released worldwide on September 25. The gangster drama has Pawan Kalyan in a fiery role as Ojas Gambheera, a man emerging from exile to take on Bombay’s ruthless underworld don Omi Bhau, portrayed by Emraan Hashmi in his Telugu debut.

Set in the 1980s, OG has been praised for its dynamic visuals, gritty action, and sharp direction, all trademarks of Sujeeth’s stylised filmmaking. With top technicians like Ravi K Chandran and Manoj Paramahamsa on cinematography, S Thaman handling music, and DVV Entertainment backing the project, the film has lived up to its massive expectations.

Next Stop: Bloody Romeo With Nani

Not one to rest, Sujeeth has already announced his next project. He is set to team up with Nani for a film titled Bloody Romeo. The project will begin once Nani wraps up The Paradise, which is currently being directed by Srikanth Odela.

While details of Bloody Romeo remain under wraps, anticipation is high as it marks the first collaboration between Sujeeth and Nani. Given Sujeeth’s strength in stylish action dramas and Nani’s versatility as an actor, fans are eager to see how this pairing unfolds on screen.

From his high-profile Saaho debut with Prabhas, to Pawan Kalyan’s OG, and now stepping into a new world with Nani’s Bloody Romeo, Sujeeth’s career trajectory shows his determination to keep evolving.
