Since it was released on SonyLiv and OTTplay Premium earlier this month, the newest thriller series, The Hunt - The Rajiv Gandhi Assassination Case, has been generating a lot of online interest. This series, which examines the important investigation that followed the murder of former Indian Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi in Tamil Nadu, has been directed by the esteemed filmmaker Nagesh Kukunoor. The series also features the LTTE operatives and the mastermind behind the strike, in addition to the investigation. Sruthy Jayan, the Malayalam actress who portrayed the suicide bomber Dhanu who murdered Rajiv Gandhi, discusses the greatest praise she has received for her depiction of the Black Tigress.
In The Hunt, Sruthy Jayan portrays a Malayali actress on Dhanu
Ninety Days: The True Story of the Hunt for Rajiv Gandhi's Assassins, written by Anirudhya Mitra, served as the inspiration for the 2025 thriller series The Hunt - The Rajiv Gandhi Assassination Case. In a recent chat with The Cue Studio, actress Sruthy Jayan revealed that she was really thrilled to get praise from the author himself. She told me that Anirudhya Mitra sent her a message saying, "Obviously, I have never met in Dhanu real-life." However, you let me see the actual Dhanu.
The author's compliment was so overpowering that she said it might be her appearance or the way she played the part.
In addition to viewing documentaries on the LTTE operative and any material pertaining to Dhanu, Sruthy Jayan also described her research process for the series.
Sruthy Jayan is an actress from Kerala who has primarily worked in Malayalam movies, as many people are unaware. Her acting debut was in the movie Angamaly Diaries by the renowned director Lijo Jose Pellissery. One of her well-known performances is in the movie June, which featured Rajisha Vijayan. The movie follows June's coming-of-age narrative, and Sruthy portrays Maya instructor. In addition to June, she also appeared in movies like Kaanekkaane, Heaven, and Am Ah, which are all accessible for streaming on OTTplay Premium.
Malayali actors portrayed some of the other prominent LTTE figures in the show, not only Dhanu. Sivarasan, the mastermind of the assault, is also being praised for his performance by Shafeeq Mustafa.
