This year's Wimbledon 2025 event featured an unexpected influx of desi celebrities, and Instagram's fashion police, Diet Sabya, called it out in style. The increasing Indian presence at the event was described by an anonymous Instagram watchdog group calling itself the "Desification of Wimbledon" in a social media article that featured pictures of Indian celebrities attending the tennis competition. The overwhelming number of Indians present at the games made Sonam Kapoor's reaction to the article all the more enthusiastic.

Diet Sabya's humorous article about Indian celebrities at Wimbledon

Diet Sabya, which is renowned for its biting commentary and unfiltered opinions on pop culture and fashion, recently shared its thoughts on the presence of Indian celebrities at Wimbledon.

The account published a series of images of Sonam Kapoor, Virat Kohli, Urvashi Rautela, Jacqueline Fernandez, Priyanka Chopra, Avneet Kaur, Milind Soman, Preity Zinta, and Janhvi Kapoor, among others, under the headline, "What in the challengers is going on?"

"Are we feeling the desiccation of Wimbledon?" was the question that began the comments section.

The Internet's Response

The article prompted numerous social media users to share their opinions. "Is Wimbledon the new Cannes for Indian celebrities?" one person wondered.

Another person quipped, "Wimbledon has become chandivali hai kya?"

"Sad to see Wimbledon falling prey to the influenzas culture," a third remarked. Did not anticipate meeting Avneet Kaur, the first Indian 2x champion for Miss Universe, the first woman to ever dance on dabidi dibi, the first of her name, IITian Urvashi.

In another remark, Kareena Kapoor's well-known statement that "Sab bus pakad ke Wimbledon ja rahe hai" (Everyone is taking the bus to Wimbledon) was given a humorous spin.

Sonam's remark, in which she expressed delight with the Indian attendance, drew everyone's attention, though. "Love the captions! Indians everywhere! So good na?" wrote the star of Bhaag Milkha Bhaag.

The future projects of Sonam Kapoor

With Battle for Bittora, a movie version of Anuja Chauhan's 2010 best-selling book, Sonam Kapoor is getting ready to make a comeback to the film industry on the professional front. The narrative follows two fervent young politicians who, despite their love for one another, end up competing against each other in a high-stakes election. Anil Kapoor's production company is co-producing the movie with Communication Network.
