Heeramandi is finally going to be out on Netflix and the series, helmed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, is on everybody’s mind. Sonakshi Sinha, who plays one of the leads in the series, talks if she knows that the filmmaker is her fan. While speaking so, she rather vouched that SLB is ‘very happy’ with her.

What she said

When Pinkvilla asked Sonakshi if she is aware that Sanjay Leela Bhansali is her fan, she said that he’s ‘very happy’ with her. “I can vouch for that,” the actress said, adding that it makes her really happy as a performer. Sonakshi confirms what has been heard about the filmmaker from others who have worked with him – that Sanjay Leela Bhansali is very hard to please. “If he’s happy with me, that means I’m doing something right,” she said.

SLB, an artist who sees things others cannot

Sonakshi called SLB an artist who sees things others cannot. She believes that is what makes him the great filmmaker he is. The actress called her character ‘fire’ and spoke about how Tilasmi Bahein became a one-shot song.

The good and bad of working with the filmmaker

Sonakshi said the most rewarding thing about working with SLB is that one discovers their abilities that they didn’t know existed. Apart from that, one realizes how actually strong they are as a person and actor. She further says that the standards the filmmaker has set are very high and he expects that out of everyone he works with.

Aside of Sonakshi Sinha, Heeramandi stars Richa Chaddha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Manisha Koirala, Sanjeeda Sheikh, Sharmin Sehgal, Fardeen Khan and Taha Shah in pivotal roles. It is SLB’s debut TV series. The story of the show is about the lives of courtesans at the red-light district of Heera Mandi in Lahore (thus the name). The story dates back to Independence and the movement against British Raj in 1940s.
