Shiva Rajkumar Backs Kamal Haasan: ‘He’s Done So Much for Kannada Cinema’
6 months ago | 5 Views
After stating during a promotional event for his forthcoming film Thug Life that "Kannada was born out of Tamil," Kamal Haasan lately found himself in the thick of a debate. The issue has now been addressed by Shiva Rajkumar, who was present at the audio release of Thug Life.
Kamal Haasan's Kannada dispute is addressed by Shiva Rajkummar.
"Kamal Sir has always spoken highly of Kannada and has expressed great admiration for Bengaluru," Shiva stated at an event in the city on May 28. He is really proud of our city. I've been a huge admirer of Kamal Sir for many years, and we've grown up seeing him. One could ask, "How can you call yourself a fan of Kamal Haasan and not your father?" Family is father. However, Kamal Sir is unique. He has been a genuine inspiration to me, not simply a celebrity. I've always been a fan of Kamal Sir, just like many of you may have a favorite actor. I am confident that he always provides the audience exactly what they need.
He continued by saying that being invited as the main guest to the audio release of Thug Life was a point of honor and asked why, rather than staying quiet, people had not brought up the subject at the time. Love for Kannada should be consistent and genuine, not just when someone speaks up, he stressed. Speaking particularly to media outlets, he said that enthusiasm for the language should not be restricted to public forums but should be evident throughout the year.
"Our commitment to Kannada must be lifelong," Shiva Rajkumar continued. I'm willing to battle for Kannada if necessary, even if it means sacrificing my life. Simply extolling Kannada in front of cameras is insufficient. Words are less important than deeds. What have you done to support the Kannada film industry? Have you provided any opportunities for newbies? If we truly want Kannada to grow, it's our responsibility to back it in any way we can. Please don't take me wrong in what I'm saying. Ask yourself if what I'm saying is true or false. The answer will be obvious. I have nothing more to say about Kamal Sir; he has already made significant contributions to Kannada cinema.

The debate prompts a response from Kamal Haasan
Kamal's remarks drew criticism, and the Kannada film industry even demanded an apology, threatening that if he didn't, Thug Life would not be released in Karnataka. In response to the debate, Kamal stated, "I said what I said out of love, and many historians have taught me about language history." I didn't intend anything. According to news agency ANI, he stated that Tamil Nadu is a state where we have had a Menon, a Reddy, a Tamil, and a Kannadiga Iyengar as our Chief Minister.
Politicians, including himself, are not qualified to discuss linguistic issues, he said. In his opinion, historians, archaeologists, and linguists are better able to address these complex topics, and they should be the ones to do so.
