The current debate over Diljit Dosanjh choosing Hania Aamir for the lead role in Sardaar Ji 3 has been addressed by actor Shekhar Suman. Following the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, which killed 26 Indian nationals, Shekhar emphasized the necessity for increased vigilance when it comes to cultural or business partnerships with Pakistan.
Diljit is asked to apologize by Shekhar Suman
Shekhar told the Hindustan Times in an interview, "I am not very acquainted with what has happened. Diljit's position is that the Pahalgam event hadn't occurred when he co-starred with a Pakistani performer, and that's all I'm aware of.
He insisted, though, that prudence and accountability are required in the current environment. "Given what Pakistan has done, we must be extremely cautious about what we do and say right now, particularly when it comes to Pakistan. We need to be especially careful about how we tread."
He emphasized the need to be in line with the national mood and urged Diljit to apologize, even if the incident was unintentional. "If you've done something wrong, even unknowingly, you can still be gracious enough to say, 'Look, I'm sorry, I wasn't aware, and it won't happen in the future.'" The actor stated, "We should all take a cue from that."
In addition, Shekhar discussed the larger issue of cultural and professional interaction with Pakistani talent, noting that numerous Pakistani artists have publicly criticized India. "It's best to avoid acting with any of those Pakistani actors or having any other relationship, at least until things are resolved bilaterally, which I don't believe will happen while Kashmir is still a source of conflict."
Regarding the decision not to publish Sardaar Ji 3 in India, Shekhar lauded it as a thoughtful and patriotic move. “It is a beautiful stand. The fact that the picture would not be released here is, in effect, an apology and a very patriotic stance. That will suffice. This means, "I am with you and I respect your feelings."
Shekhar Suman's ongoing projects
In the play Ek Mulaqat, directed by Saif Hyder Hasan, Shekhar Suman portrays the well-known poet Sahir Ludhianvi. The unrequited love between Sahir and Amrita Pritam is the central theme of the drama. It is now being performed in Mumbai, and Delhi will soon host performances. In addition to Parineeti Chopra, Amol Palekar, and Adil Hussain, the performer will also appear in the Netflix movie Reporting Live.
