In the last ten years, lyricist Raj Shekhar has had a quiet but significant impact on the music business by creating songs that connect with the audience's emotions rather than just supporting a character. His trip, distinguished by emotion, knowledge, and poetic accuracy, has brought him from being an unintentional lyricist to becoming a respected voice in collaborations with some of the most renowned names in cinema.

Raj has consistently produced language that stays with you, whether it was with Mat Ja Re in Tanu Weds Manu Returns, which aroused emotions, or with Pehla Bhi Main from Animal, which once again won hearts. He discusses his most recent collaboration with Mohit Suri for Saiyaara and considers finishing 100 songs in the business in an interview with the Hindustan Times that is only available to the public.

On finishing 100 songs, Raj Shekhar

He describes his adventure as nothing short of magical, recalling the emotional highs and lows of the previous decade.

"The previous ten years have had many highs and lows. In my opinion, the trip has been incredibly fascinating and fascinating. I am really appreciative and grateful to the composers, directors, music directors, and everyone else who gave my lyrics and music a place in their hearts. I also appreciate the characters I portrayed in my writing. It has been a fascinating trip indeed.

Raj Shekhar on collaborating with Mohit Suri

Some of the connection between Raj Shekhar and heartfelt lyrics, in his opinion, comes from the types of partnerships he selects. He spoke about how rewarding it was to collaborate with director Mohit Suri and composer Vishal Mishra while working on Saiyaara's song Tum Ho Toh.

“It was a really great experience.” Mohit When it comes to movie music, Suri is a revelation in his own right. He has a strong rapport and background with the audience. I thought it would be amazing to collaborate with him because all of his movie songs have been well-liked. He participates but does not intervene. He gives you a glimpse into his universe through his collaboration, and then states— Go construct yours now. It was a blast. I often work with Vishal, and this time it was me, Vishal, and Mohit together, so it was a lot of fun. In terms of music, Vishal has a perspective all his own. It wasn't like he instructed us to just do this. In the strictest sense, it was a partnership.

In describing the 'magic sauce' that underlies his fruitful partnerships with Vishal Mishra, the lyricist said, "I feel the audience likes our pairing. People describe us as a mystical pair on my Instagram. We've never made an attempt to determine what works. Two things are essential: our high level of trust and our ability to have open discussions. We don't think of it as completing a song and moving on. There are numerous procedures and debates. It's a really reflective period, which I believe appeals to the audience as well.

Writing lyrics is a duty for Shekhar, not simply a creative endeavor. "When I write, I'm always thinking about my audience: who am I writing for?" he said. I write for two worlds: the characters and the audience. The little things in life are where the enchantment resides. It's always in the little things. I attempt to photograph them. I am not aware of any alternative. Writing straightforward lyrics is, in fact, the most difficult task, I've discovered. The easiness you hear is the result of a great deal of hard work. You frequently have to give up a lot.

"There’s a huge difference between ‘simple’ and ‘simplistic,’ just like there is between ‘childlike’ and ‘childish.’ Childhood is a beautiful thing, but being childish isn’t." He gave a wonderful explanation of the distinction between straightforward and simplistic writing. As a result, I strive to keep my writing straightforward without being overly simple.

Shekhar would approach working with any actor or artist with the same sincerity, but he does have a particular partnership in mind.

According to Raj Shekhar, he wants to collaborate with Shah Rukh Khan

"I would be ecstatic if I ever had the opportunity to write for Shah Rukh Khan. It would be fantastic to have my words show up on his face. When you used to skip class to see a movie, it was his face that would brighten up the screen for us. As a result, he said, "I would definitely want to write for him." In addition, he said he wanted to be in Shah Rukh Khan's next movie, King. "I don't know where the film is being shot right now or who has been signed, but if I get the chance, I would definitely love to be a part of it."

In addition to King Khan, he hopes to collaborate with some of the industry's biggest stars. "I would adore to write songs for Sanjay Leela Bhansali and AR Rahman. I'm delighted that I got to collaborate with Irrfan Khan in Qarib Qarib Single because I had always wished to.
