Richa Chadha, an actress, has discussed how she was subjected to gender inequality as a youngster, not by society at large, but by members of her own family. Lily Singh recently described a moment from her childhood in an interview, emphasizing how ingrained patriarchal norms can be, even in regular family discussions.

With Nani, Richa remembers her youth

"I was just a kid jumping on the bed, and my Nani, who was visiting us, said, 'If you keep jumping like this, no one would want to marry you. You can't do this in your in-laws' house. What she was saying was beyond my comprehension. I had to be seven or eight years old. Richa added, "And I was like, is she crazy?"

Richa continued by describing how her mother assisted her in comprehending the circumstances surrounding her grandmother's thinking. She said that since she was born in 1920 and married at the age of 13, she was approaching it from that perspective.

Richa discusses teaching boys about respect and consent

Richa was also questioned in the same interview about her thoughts on how we might improve the world for our daughters.

Simply concentrate on the boys. You must concentrate on the lads. It's over. The daughters are not doing it to other girls. It is imperative that the son have a close relationship with his father. The child must comprehend the mother's consent. The father must demonstrate to his son that he treats his mother and sister with respect. The sister has to be educated and fed in the same way as the son. Our nation depends on its women. Richa stated that it is impossible for us to be content if half of the population is monitoring who is following and stalking them.

Richa most recently portrayed Lajjo in the Sanjay Leela Bhansali-directed Netflix series Heeramandi. Following the success of Fukrey 3, she has agreed to appear in a new movie that heralds her comeback to the comedy genre.
