The producers of Umrao Jaan held a unique screening in Mumbai prior to its re-release, which was a star-studded occasion. And Rekha, the star of the movie, stole the show by dancing to her famous steps from the film and even coaxing Anil Kapoor to join her on the red carpet, all while appearing upbeat.

Rekha's honest moments, like taking a selfie with music master AR Rahman, made the evening even more memorable.

At the screening of Umrao Jaan, Rekha's allure is evident

The classic movie was shown in Mumbai on Thursday evening. On June 27, the 1981 cult classic will be rereleased in theaters.

Rekha mesmerized the audience at the screening with her stunning ivory and gold attire, which perfectly embodied the spirit of her famous movie role. Beautiful embroidery and traditional jewelry embellished the outfit.

Social media is flooded with images of Rekha's red carpet appearances at the Umrao Jaan screening. In one video, Rekha can be seen twirling and nostalgically reminiscing about her legendary dance movements from the timeless movie.

In another video, Anil Kapoor is seen coming to greet her with folded hands and a warm hug, following which she makes him twirl and dance with her. Anil graciously joins her in the impromptu gesture. The moment was met with huge cheer from the photographers present at the screening. They later posed together on the red carpet.

Rekha's meeting with AR Rahman at the red carpet turned into a fun moment as they playfully posed together for a selfie, capturing the joy of the evening.

The National Film Development Corporation-National Film Archive of India brought back Umrao Jaan under the National Film Heritage Mission. The movie, which is set in the 19th century, follows Amiran's (Rekha) arrival in a brothel in Lucknow and her interactions with three significant people, played by Naseeruddin Shah, Raj Babbar, and Farooque Shaikh. Many people think it's among the greatest films of Rekha's career. Muzaffar Ali is the director of the picture.
