Despite criticism for its violence and misogynistic approach, Sandeep Reddy Vanga's Animal, which stars Ranbir Kapoor and Rashmika Mandanna in the major roles, was a huge commercial hit. In a recent chat with Mojo Story, Rashmika disclosed if the criticism surrounding the movie had an impact on her.

Rashmika Mandanna stands up for Animal

Rashmika stated that she would quit a movie if she were ever asked to smoke on camera while defending Animal, saying, "I saw the film as a film." People claim that a hero is inducing others to smoke when he is seen doing so on television. However, smoking is rather common in society nowadays. I don't go to see a movie in order to be swayed in any manner. I would never smoke on camera myself, but that's just my opinion. Even if I'm a member of Animal, I'll still tell people to go see a movie as a movie. Watch your kind of movie if you want to be impacted by one. No one is making anyone watch a movie. Every movie would be a hit if that were the case.

According to Rashmika Mandanna, there is gray in everyone.

“There are grey characters in each one of us—we are never just black or white,” Rashmika said, adding that she was not surprised by the discussion around the film. There is gray in all of us. The only thing Sandeep Reddy Vanga did was discuss a messed-up individual, nothing more. In my opinion, people have celebrated it because it produced the figures. Therefore, I didn't think I had to be interrupted during the chat. People either liked or disliked the movie we produced; it was successful, but that's a matter of taste. One should truly see a movie for what it is and not pass judgment on an actor for portraying these characters. "It's performing for a purpose."

She continued by saying that actors are just performing in front of the camera, and their true selves are not the same as the roles they play.

Regarding Animals

The plot of the action drama film centers on Ranvijay "Vijay" Singh (played by Ranbir Kapoor), the son of a successful businessman (played by Anil Kapoor), and his problematic relationship with his father, which is made worse by an attempted murder on his father. Vijay experiences a terrible metamorphosis and embarks on a course of retribution and ruin.

Celebrities like Kangana Ranaut and Javed Akhtar publicly condemned the movie for its sexist message.

Nonetheless, it was a huge box office hit, bringing in ₹915 crore globally despite the controversy. With Ranbir Kapoor reprising his role as the star, Animal Park is now being developed as a sequel. The filmmaker disclosed that he would start working on Animal Park after finishing his next film with Prabhas, which is titled Spirit.
