Randeep Hooda on Bollywood Action: Crafted for Icons Like Sunny Deol and Salman Khan, Unlike Hollywood’s Intensive Prep

The sharp contrasts between Indian and foreign action film production were just discussed by Randeep Hooda. The actor compared the larger-than-life air of Bollywood action heavyweights like Salman Khan and Sunny Deol to that of Hollywood stars like Chris Hemsworth and John Cena.

According to Randeep, the program is centered on Salman and Sunny

Randeep pointed out in a Mid-day interview that, in Bollywood, action scenes are frequently built around the personalities of celebrities like Salman and Sunny, rather than the stars changing to fit the action.

"The plot revolves around them. They give you the impression that they are capable of accomplishing what they are doing. They were both celebrities before the internet era. However, when I have collaborated with Chris Hemsworth or John Cena, they have taken a different tack," stated Randeep. Randeep has collaborated with Salman in Kick and Sultan, and with Sunny in Jaat.

Randeep noticed a significant distinction between Bollywood and Hollywood: rehearsals. He detailed how performers like Chris Hemsworth and John Cena spend weeks practicing and choreographing their performances to make them more realistic.

"The contrast is that they all come and practice for weeks and weeks before doing it. We practiced for six weeks before doing it (in front of the camera), and it seems genuine. Rehearsals are like theater in that respect. What makes it more genuine is that they are not revered in the same way that Indian celebrities are.

Randeep recalled that the 2019 filming of Extraction marked his first genuine action test. He had never really thrown a punch on camera, even though he had a long career playing physically demanding characters. Working with Chris and director Sam Hargrave was a wake-up call.

Randeep's future projects

Matchbox, a comedy-action film starring John Cena that will be released the following year, will soon reunite Randeep Hooda with Sam Hargrave. The film, which also features Jessica Biel, Sam Richardson, Arturo Castro, Teyonah Parris, Danai Gurira, and Correy Stoll, is based on Mattel's Matchbox toy cars.

In Jaat, where director Gopichand Malineni made his Hindi film debut, Randeep was lately spotted alongside Sunny Deol. In addition to Regina Cassandra, Randeep Hooda, Vineet Kumar Singh, Saiyami Kher, Ramya Krishnan, and Jagapathi Babu, Jaat also featured Ramya Krishnan and Jagapathi Babu.
