Yash appeared as Ravana and Ranbir as Lord Ram in the breathtaking initial glance. People were quick to make comparisons between the internet and Om Raut's disappointing Adipurush.

"This is the genuine Ramayana, not Adipurush."

Several users shared images of the peek on X (previously Twitter) and remarked at how much better Ramayana appears. ‘Hans Zimmer and AR Rahman’s music is goosebumps-worthy’

The backdrop music for the announcement video, which was created by Hans Zimmer and AR Rahman, was praised by reviewers, and one X user wrote, "I am very happy with the music of Hans Zimmer and AR Rehman sir...". The Ramayana will be released in theaters in two installments for Diwali in 2026 and 2027. The movie was directed by Namit Malhotra.
