Ramya Reflects: Staying Within My Comfort Zone as an Actor
21 days ago | 5 Views
Ramya, a Kannada actress, performed in roles during her slightly more than ten-year film career that she claims were completely unlike her. She didn't comprehend the parts she was portraying, and she struggled with the majority of them. She would take on roles that were the polar opposite of her educated, opinionated, and financially independent self—those of a domestic, next-door-girl waiting for the hero to save her.
In an open conversation with model Shubra Aiyappa on the podcast Flip the Script with Shubra, Ramya confesses to having been perpetually conflicted. She wanted to be happy with her work, leave a legacy or an impression, inspire other women, and alter the way women are seen in film. "I remarked, 'My life goes on,' and I've questioned producers why I had to commit suicide if the protagonist rejected me." "They would concur with me but urge me to adhere to what's in the script," she said, adding that she then decided to concentrate on her outfits in her movies.
Ramya: The movie business is really superstitious.
Despite all her accomplishments in the Kannada film industry, where she was once regarded as the best, the actress, who was renamed Ramya for the screen by Parvathamma, late Dr. Rajkumar's wife, Cyrils that a nice part still eludes her. "A really good role that I genuinely want to perform is one door that has yet to open for me." Throughout my career, I had to select the finest option from what was available. The film business is really superstitious, thus it's ironic. "If your first film does really well, then there’s no stopping you," Ramya adds.
She further states that an actor has no takers if their first movie does not succeed, regardless of their appearance, skill, or family history. She mentions her unsuccessful Telugu launch, which was a remake of her Kannada film debut, Abhi, as an example. Ramya's Tollywood career came to an end when the Kalyan Ram-starring film, Abhimanyu, flopped.
Ramya has been attempting to return to filmmaking after a short break during which she immersed herself in active politics. However, she has discovered that the parts she is being offered are the same as those she performed 20 years ago. “I’m really looking forward to doing something I have not done; something that I really resonate with. I haven't really faced any obstacles in movies. "I haven't truly pushed the envelope when it comes to movies," she remarked.
Ramya has switched to filmmaking and produced one film, Swathi Mutthina Male Haniye, since declaring her intention to return to the movies. She then proclaimed her participation in Dhananjaya's gangster film Uttarakaanda and even went to the film's muhurtha, but when it finally started, she changed her mind and decided against it.
