RS Prasanna Unbothered by Remake Buzz: Says Sitaare Zameen Par Will Speak for Itself

After an eight-year hiatus, director RS Prasanna is back in front of the camera. Shubh Mangal Savdhaan, his most recent film, was released in 2017. From telling the story of a guy with erectile dysfunction, the director has switched to telling the tale of a furious basketball coach instructing a group of children with special needs. Aamir Khan plays the lead in his forthcoming movie, Sitaare Zameen Par, alongside Genelia D'Souza and ten new faces.

RS Prasanna on Sitaare Zameen Par

The trailer for Sitaare Zameen Par, which received a lot of love from the audience for both its topic and Aamir's acting, was released more than a month ago. But some people noted that the trailer drew heavily from the Spanish movie Campeones, which served as its inspiration, and the Hollywood picture Champions.

However, Prasanna is unaffected by the rumors about remakes and clones. "I simply have faith that the movie will provide the answers. The filmmaker should speak through the picture. I believe there is a great deal of affection for the movie. "That takes up all my attention," he tells HT.

When asked if he is not worried by the conversations, Prasanna simply replies, "I am just consumed by the love for the film."

Aamir also addressed the criticism of remakes on Raj Shamani's podcast earlier this month. "After Laal Singh (Chaddha), a lot of people told me, 'you are making a remake again,'" the actor said. For being a remake, Laal Singh received a lot of trolling. However, I have a different nature. Practical matters are beyond my comprehension. I don't mind a remake, and I don't think my creativity is waning at all. It's new job for me. This tale was created by someone else, and I'm providing my point of view. The official adaptation of Forrest Gump, Aamir's earlier picture, Laal Singh Chaddha, was also a remake.

The debate about remakes is 'useless,' said Aamir, who compared them to theatrical versions of William Shakespeare's plays.

Concerning Sitaare Zameen Par

In addition to Aamir, Sitaare Zameen Par features ten new actors with intellectual disabilities who play his protégés. Prasanna discusses the difficulties and pleasures of directing them, saying, "You don't climb Mount Everest because it's easy. You do it for the glory. You love the adrenaline rush. In the ten sitaare we have cast, all we were looking for was that keeda (itch) to act." Everything else may be taught. In addition to clowning workshops and acting classes, we established a tiny acting school for them, similar to any other novice performer.

Sitaare Zameen Par is the spiritual follow-up to Aamir's 2007 movie, Taare Zameen Par. Genelia D'Souza has a key part in the film as well. The theatrical debut of the movie is set for June 20.
