The psychological horror picture Shaitaan, which came out last year, did well at the box office. With R. Madhavan portraying an evil role, it starred Ajay Devgn, Jyotika, and Janki Bodiwala. Madhavan spoke about feeling uneasy about some of the scenes he performed as an actor in a new conversation with Kajol about her next horror picture, Maa. One of them was the urination moment in Shaitaan, where Madhavan discussed how he approached the role as an actor.

The words of Madhavan

During the conversation, which JioStudios posted on their YouTube account, Kajol questioned Madhavan if he had any reservations about a scene in the movie because it seemed too realistic. In reply, Madhavan stated, "It was extremely sensitive, and there was more to it than that." In one scene, my daughter pees because I make her dance all night and she can no longer control her bladder. Well, the real me was different, but the entire message shifts if I see this even as a bad guy. In a scene where I force my daughter to dance all night and she pees, I was attempting to determine how to transform it into utter revulsion. If I see that it conveys a different message now, as a villain, I consider it to be a villain. I wanted it to become something that made people feel repulsed!)

What came after that?

I felt incredibly relieved as an actor that I don't have to respond to that either, so I then covered myself with a blanket to avoid seeing it. I'm simply advising the mother, may you go aid your daughter? There were several moments when I felt uneasy, so I found a way to break free from them.

Shaitaan, a Hindi version of the 2023 Gujarati film Vash, depicts a family that is taken hostage in their house by a strange intruder who takes command of a little girl. The psychological horror thriller, directed by Vikas Bahl, earned more than Rs 100 crore in India.
