A number of Bollywood celebrities, including Salman Khan and Ranveer Singh, have come under fire for having on-screen relationships with actresses who are half their age. However, in a recent interview with India Today, R Madhavan discussed the film industry's current shift towards age-appropriate romances.
R Madhavan discusses age-appropriate relationships in the film industry
Madhavan talked about seeing a change in narrative, notably in movies where there is a large age difference between the main characters. "There are more age-appropriate romances right now," he stated. Due to the intense criticism it has received. The heroes are now thinking, "Woh zamana gaya (that era has come)"—the time is past when you could be far older and yet act like you were the same age as the heroine and romance her.
He said, "That has stopped now," when asked if everyone supports the move, which he deemed inevitable. I believe that is now completely ended and is no longer tolerated. Therefore, you must use caution while displaying age-appropriate love if you are still practicing it. If people are opposing what you're doing, then it's clear that it's not working. It is our duty to present them the tale in the way they like. We will be left watching movies alone if we just consider our own interests and ignore the audience.

In his upcoming movie, Aap Jaisa Koi, Fatima Sana Shaikh, 33, will be paired with Madhavan, who is 55 years old.
