Earlier this month, Puja Banerjee and Kunal Verma claimed to have been the victims of financial fraud. They were accused of kidnapping Bengali film producer Shyam Sunder Dey a few days later, along with accusations of physical assault and financial extortion. Malabika Dey, Shyam's wife, submitted an FIR against the couple. Puja said on Friday that they are going through the "toughest time" of their lives, breaking her silence on the dispute.
What Puja said
"Going through the toughest time of our lives, those who are standing by us we will be forever grateful to you all," Puja wrote on her Instagram page. May those who believe the lies that are being spread about us be blessed as well. I believe in God, and as you know, God is watching over me. She said, "God is great" in the caption.
Concerning the charges
Malabika posted a lengthy statement on her Facebook page, which included allegations of physical and psychological abuse against Shyam. "This event is not only a serious crime, but it is also a betrayal and a breach of trust towards a friend." Our entire family is experiencing severe psychological harm as a result of this event, as well as physical and verbal mistreatment of Shyam. We have complete faith in the judicial system and are approaching the situation lawfully. She stated, "I implore all creative society members to be vigilant." She said that if Shyam didn't pay around ₹64 lakh, he would be threatened with being implicated in a drug case.
She continued by saying that Shyam was successfully saved by the Goa Police. Under sections 126(2), 137(2), 140(2), 308(2), 115(2), 351(3), 61(2), and 3(5) of the FIR, Puja and Kunal were charged.
