As a veteran theatre professional, film actor and director, one would think that Prakash Belawadi has a certain standing in the industry. But if one were to go by what he says, he is not the most liked in his home state. Discussing his professional life on the Just Curious podcast, Prakash said that he is treated very well on film sets outside of Karnataka. “Here also some people treat me with respect, but generally, the professional film industry in Karnataka is quite crude in their behaviour. Not everybody, but many of them are. Outside they treat me well; they do pamper

In response to the question of what he means by being treated well, Prakash said that he had previously starred in a film for a major Karnataka production, but he declined to identify it because he was "scared of them." "That's how the Kannada film industry is. I don't give a damn if they give me a role or not. I will never labor under that banner, even if they assign me a position and pay me Rs. 10 lakh each day. Since the director of this production company wanted me, I didn't lower my pay when I worked on a movie with them. As a result, they didn't pay me the last portion of my salary that was due to me.

They held back the last of the four payments, and then, on the final day of filming, they dispatched a group of folks to his caravan. After entering, eating, and throwing meat about, four guys used the toilet until the water ran out, then defecated and made it unusable. "'I was compelled to wait outside because of the odor,' he states, adding, 'That's an extreme and not everyone is like that, but a lot of them do not know how to behave.'"

Prakash also dislikes the fact that the Kannada film business does not consider contract signing to be standard practice. "Everyone else does it except for this one industry." Our industry is very primitive and uncivilized. A civilized person would not require a document to enforce anything, and their word would be adequate. "The Kannada industry once prospered with such civilized people," he claims.

Prakash says that the Rajkumar family is a good example of this because he has previously collaborated with both Shivarajkumar and Puneeth Rajkumar. “They are very civilized and decent and the culture on their sets is very different,” Prakash said, noting that he is not resentful about the not-too-good experiences in the Kannada film industry because he has now learned how to prevent them.
