One of the most anticipated movies of the year is The RajaSaab, a vintage horror comedy by Prabhas. However, many fans may not have expected the anticipation to last as long. The movie, which will be released in December, was first scheduled to be released in April. The film's creators disclosed what caused the postponement at the teaser launch event on Monday.
The promotional campaign for The RajaSaab began on Monday in Hyderabad with the lavish debut of the teaser. The filmmakers engaged with the attending media and addressed a few queries about the film during a press conference at the event.
How significant was the climax that it led to a delayed release?
TG Vishwa Prasad, the producer of RajaSaab, discussed the film's scope, stating, "I don't know how Maruthi (the director) could manage that schedule." They would begin shooting at 6 a.m. and continue until 10 or 11 p.m. This continued for 120 days. This was merely one timetable. Because you will see the most magnificent 40-minute climax coming from those 120 days.
He continued, "But it's something we haven't seen before; after that, it took the VFX folks 300 days to process that."
The release delay, according to Vishwa Prasad, was caused by the VFX work and the climax schedule.
Shooting lasted 120 days, and the visual effects took 300 days. The VFX were really crucial. "I know everyone was disappointed that it caused the delay. However, it was crucial to deliver the right quality in the best way," he stated.
Maruthi talks about 18-hour shifts
Boman Irani, Sanjay Dutt, Malavika Mohanan, and Nidhhi Agerwal all co-star with Prabhas in the RajaSaab. The movie will be released on a large scale in Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam. Director Maruthi answered a different question about what viewers can expect from The RajaSaab by saying, "We can make Disney kind of film in India, Hollywood-scale cinema. I want to prove that."
Director Maruthi also spoke about putting in 16 to 18 hours of work on the movie every day. Maruthi acknowledged that his filming frequently lasted 18 hours, even as the discussion shifts to more humane 8-hour shifts for actors and technicians. However, he emphasized that the performers were not mistreated. "I had two shifts with some actors in one and some in the other," he stated. However, like the individuals I pointed out—his director of photography and producer—I put in long hours, sometimes up to 18 hours a day. That was crucial if we intended to complete a movie of this magnitude on schedule."
During the teaser launch, co-producer SKN expressed his optimism for the film, claiming it would "repeat history" at the box office. He said, "In December first week, 2023, came Animal. In 2024, it was Pushpa Part 2. And in 2025, December first week, it will be The RajaSaab." The RajaSaab will be released in theaters in December 2025. It is being promoted as the largest horror fantasy in India.
