Director Ram, whose last release was the 2019 film Peranbu, is gearing up for the release of his next film Paranthu Po, a musical comedy which will hit theatres on July 4. The film, which stars actors like Mirchi Shiva, Aju Varghese, Grace Antony and others, marks Ram’s comeback after nearly after six years. In a recent interview on the sidelines of promoting the film, Ram spoke about how his protagonists (mostly men) are man child.

In a recent conversation about his film Parandhu Po, director Ram was asked about how his protagonists are man-child. Agreeing to this, the filmmaker explained it why:

"And I'm a man-child myself, but I don't mean obstinate. I have a tendency to become triggered by inquiries and speak uninhibitedly and without restraint. I will only experience conflict in my narratives if the hero is a man-child and there are no antagonists. He would have flaws. Heroes are usually expected to be perfect and a whole person. However, it's simple to play when your hero is a man-child and there isn't a villain in the movie. Since he is everything: innocent, foolish, wicked, evil, intelligent, and everything.

JioHotstar has acquired the film's post-theatrical streaming rights after it was slated for a theatrical release on July 4. The date of the OTT release will be revealed at a later time.

The movie centers on a stubborn schoolboy who travels with his financially insecure father. However, their road trip away from the bustle of the city leads them on a journey of self-discovery where they encounter new people and experience a bit of their lives. Having debuted at the International Festival of Rotterdam, Paranthu Po was promoted as a musical comedy and screened at a festival earlier.
