More than fifteen years after Life in a... Metro explored the intricacies of urban living and relationships, its spiritual successor, Metro... In Dino, debuted on July 5. The original film starred a popular couple, Irrfan Khan and Konkona Sen Sharma, but the remake stars Konkona opposite Pankaj Tripathi. In a recent interview with Zoom, the actor discussed the similarities as viewers compared Irrfan's effortless appeal with Pankaj's performance.

"Pankaj stated that any comparison between him and Irrfan is inappropriate, saying, 'Yeh comparison bilkul nahi hona chahiye.'" He was my senior, and I would be his admirer. In Anurag Basu's 2007 ensemble drama Life in a... Metro, Irrfan gave a memorable and heartwarming performance as Monty, a simple and somewhat clumsy man looking for love on matrimonial sites. In spite of the film's network of city connections, he brought humor, vulnerability, and charm to a character that stood out. Fans particularly praised his chemistry with Konkona Sen Sharma.

Monty is the name of Pankaj's character in Metro...In Dino, for the uninitiated. Konkana made sure to incorporate a tribute to Irrfan's Life In A Metro role in the movie. Anurag Basu, the director, tells HT, "The character was not named Monty." Konkona (Coco) proposed it. "Let's call him Monty," she stated, and I replied, "Yes, right." "On the first day of the shoot." Konkona disclosed that she proposed it "because it is such a goofy kind of character" and that it closely resembles Irrfan's role in the 2007 original film.

Anurag Basu wrote and directed the musical romantic drama, which was co-produced by T-Series Films and Anurag Basu Productions. The movie has an ensemble cast that includes Anupam Kher, Neena Gupta, Konkona Sen Sharma, Pankaj Tripathi, Aditya Roy Kapur, Sara Ali Khan, Ali Fazal, and Fatima Sana Shaikh. It also intersperses several moving tales of modern couples. It garnered a favorable reaction from critics and had a encouraging beginning at the box office, grossing ₹3.5 crore in India.
