The 32-year-old Pakistani actor-model Humaira Asghar Ali was discovered dead in her Karachi apartment on Wednesday. The finding was made when a court-appointed bailiff broke into her fourth-floor flat while carrying out an eviction for unpaid rent. The police estimated that the actress had passed away in 2024, and her father declined to claim her body for the final rites, according to Gulf News.

The bailiff, accompanied by the police, discovered Humaira's body in a condition of extreme decomposition, according to the report. The authorities claim that she likely passed away in late 2024.

“The expiry dates of food and beverages in the refrigerator are from September 2024,” Asad Raza of DIG South was quoted as saying. Her phone's last inbound and outbound activity was in October 2024 as well. Since then, neither of the SIM cards in her phone has been active. Due to non-payment of bills, the apartment lost electricity at roughly the same time. Because the flat next to hers was empty, none of her neighbors complained about a bad odor emanating from her home.

According to the police, Humaira's phone's last text message came from a ride-hailing app, and her most recent WhatsApp message was sent on October 7, 2024. On October 20, Danish Maqsood, her stylist, sent her a message that she didn't read. On September 30, 2024, she made her last Instagram post. The early post-mortem also revealed that the body was in a late stage of decomposition, making it hard to ascertain the cause of death. As police await the results of forensic and toxicology tests, foul play has not been ruled out.

The body is not claimed by the father

According to reports, Humaira was a well-known personality in Pakistan's entertainment and social media industries, with a sizable following on TikTok and Instagram. The report claims that, in spite of the carefully chosen life she portrayed on social media as a beautiful influencer and television performer, she had grown more and more isolated over the last few years. She has lived alone for the past seven years and has only been seen out for her job.

According to reports, her father, Dr. Asghar Ali, a former army physician, informed the police that they had severed ties with Humaira and refused to claim her corpse. Her brother is said to have similarly declined to claim it. "Her father declined to take custody (of her body)," said DIG Asad. Finally, her brother-in-law consented to assume the duty and go to Karachi from Lahore.

Dawn claims that many individuals in the entertainment industry and the Sindh Culture Department voluntarily accepted responsibility for her interment. If her brother-in-law rejects the assertion, her body will be handed over to them.
