The first six minutes of Squid Game Season 3 have been made available on Netflix in advance of its much-awaited debut. Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae), also known as Player 456, is revealed to be alive, much to the shock of the surviving Squid Game participants. How does that affect the remaining candidates?

Player 456 is reborn

In the Netflix Tudum video, Player 456 is seen being reborn as he emerges from the coffin, which is shown as a present. After losing one of his closest friends last season, he had issued a challenge to the Front Man. He wakes up to the worry of the remaining survivors and is upset. He goes so far as to plead with the guards to murder him. Conversely, we follow a team that is looking for an island in the midst of strange disappearances.

What the makers said

"Sending Gi-hun back to the game — rather than killing him — makes sense for Front Man," Squid Game writer and director Hwang Dong-hyuk tells Tudum. He wants Gi-hun to truly experience and comprehend the high cost of his errors. Gi-hun should be brought to the point where he loses his belief in both himself and humanity, according to the Front Man. Gi-hun must go back to the game, according to the Front Man.

“Gi-hun is reborn when the coffin is opened,” Lee Jung-jae said of this moment. “He has to return to the contest, play the game again, and make decisions once more.”

The stakes are now greater than ever in Squid Game's last episode, Season 3. The first season went on to win numerous honors, including six Primetime Emmy Awards, and became one of the most popular programs on Netflix. Netflix will start streaming season 3 on Friday, June 27.
