This week saw the digital debut of several Malayalam films. One of them is Narivetta, which stars Tovino Thomas. It is currently accessible on OTTplay Premium and Sony LIV. The director of the police thriller, Anuraj Manohar, spoke with OTTplay about his screenplay selections and future projects.

‘Choose stories with a profound impact’

Anuraj emphasized that he is not interested in fame and that he wants to be acknowledged for the movies he has helmed. "I never intended for my two films to be six years apart. In between, I rejected several projects that were offered to me since I wasn't interested in them." But he went on to say that during that time, my dream projects were also postponed. "I want to work on scripts that have a significant impact on me," the young filmmaker said. "I don't have a particular affinity for any genre; rather, I am inspired by compassionate stories that deeply influence me."

He added that his wife, who is a journalist and one of his closest friends and critics, provides a female perspective on his movies or scripts. A movie starring Nivin Pauly called Shekhara Varma Rajavu and another with Prithviraj Sukumaran playing the lead are two of Anuraj's upcoming works.

"Pleased by Narivetta's tremendous success"

The director said that before starting work on Narivetta, he wanted to produce a high-quality movie that would have a lasting impact on audiences. "It helped the movie do well at the box office and receive all of this positive feedback. I am also delighted that the film was a financial triumph for the producers after a 50-day theatrical run, he added. Narivetta is about a group of individuals struggling for a legitimate cause, according to Anuraj, and the police fire that occurred during the protest not only resulted in serious injuries to people but also caused significant environmental harm. "My only goal was to adequately depict this heartbreaking tale," he said.
