Renowned artist, musician, and creator of Thistle After a fight with breast cancer, Katie Greenwood Ross, also known as Thistle, passed away. Spain, her partner, is thought to have written the Instagram post on her profile that confirmed her death.

"Katie passed away last night. In the company of her dearest friends and relatives, the last two weeks have been overflowing with affection, laughter, stories, and tears. According to the Instagram post, "we spent a week at home in our bed with our dogs, and eventually relocated to the Hope Hospice Center in Providence to better manage her pain and symptoms."

"It felt like a weight had been lifted off Katie when the cancer did not respond to treatment and physicians advised her to return home. She claimed that she had lived a full life and felt loved and content. She took it, and demonstrated a politeness and thankfulness that I couldn't picture anyone possessing. She was sedated for pain for the last few days in hospice, and she peacefully passed away shortly before 11 p.m., according to the statement.

The article goes on to say that Ross's talent for communicating and connecting with everyone she met or interacted with "will continue to unite" the community she created. October will see a birthday celebration of her life "in the form of a gallery showing her work and life." The local cemetery will always provide a location for the public to visit and contemplate.

"She expressed that I continue Thistle Thistle, and it will continue in one form or another. I feel that everyone should have an opportunity to carry a piece of her with them in their daily lives," the article goes on to say. Ross's obituary describes her "multifaceted talents as a metalsmith, historical costumer, printmaker, and musician." Through her company, Thistle Thistle, she was well-known for producing "handmade adornments and botanical pieces."

"Her work was deeply rooted in themes of power, protection, and ancestral connections, reflecting her profound appreciation for the sacred and the beautiful," the obituary reads. Katie's creations, which she produced from her Providence studio, were more than simply art; they were reflections of her spirit and enticements for others to discover enchantment in the mundane.

According to the obituary, Ross was found to have stage 3 breast cancer in early 2024. "Her fiancé and partner of nine years, Spain, stood by her side, providing unwavering support and care," it continues, noting that her business activities had to be put on hold while she concentrated on her therapy.
