I had put so much of my voice into this picture and was desperate to create it, Mohit stated. I was concerned because, at that point, just star-cast movies and action movies were successful, featuring helicopters and buildings exploding. I, on the other hand, wanted to create a film starring a newcomer. Even reluctantly, I called a few of my actor friends and asked them if they would want to star in a love story. Although they all committed to being fair, Adi [Aditya Chopra] sir responded to my suggestions by saying, "My distribution team and marketing team will be really happy, but I'm telling you, your film is not going to work because your script is for 25-year-olds." It's intended for newcomers. I replied, "Yes sir, I know it is, but let me take the risk—you just promise me you will make your best movie."

The influence of DDLJ on Mohit

In addition to being a longtime lover of Yash Raj Films' romantic flicks, Mohit stated. He remembered seeing Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge back when he was a student. The first time the notion of becoming a director struck him was when he saw the Aditya Chopra film, according to Mohit.
