The Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) is conducting a session for its full body on Sunday. Although the ad hoc committee is urging Mohanlal, the president of AMMA, to carry on his term, he declined to run if elections were held to fill seats, according to an Asianet story.

It is probable that Mohanlal will remain president of AMMA

The association's destiny will be decided at a general body meeting in Kochi on Sunday. According to reports, Mohanlal informed the group that he would not run if new elections were held to fill the vacancies. The ad hoc committee had advocated for Mohanlal to serve out his term as president during the most recent general body gathering on May 31.

To oversee the organization's operations, an ad hoc committee headed by Mohanlal was formed. The report indicates that it is possible that there will be no elections and that the committee will carry on with its work without conducting a vote. Despite having quit in August of last year following the publication of the Hema Committee report, Mohanlal will remain the president. Following his resignation, the board of directors was disbanded.

After being charged with sexual assault by multiple women, Siddique, the general secretary, quit. Citing work commitments and mental health, Unni Mukundan resigned as treasurer in January of this year. According to the report, Baburaj is now the most likely candidate for general secretary, and a different celebrity will take over Unni's position as treasurer.

The report of the Hema Committee

The Malayalam cinema business was shaken last year by the release of a redacted version of the Hema Committee report. It described the sexual, physical, and psychological violence that women experience in the film industry, as well as the exploitation of individuals in vulnerable situations across the board.

Parvathy Thiruvothu criticized the Kerala government earlier this month for failing to take any action to improve the safety of the film business. "Can we now concentrate on the REAL purpose for the establishment of this committee?" she wrote. "What about the implementation of regulations in the industry? What is going on with that?" The report was only submitted five and a half years ago, so there's no need to hurry, right?
