Manushi Chhillar recently shared a big moment from her acting journey while promoting her new film, Maalik. She talked about how playing the character Shalini changed her perspective. Director Pulkit believed in her when others didn’t see her fit for this role, giving her a chance to show a more real and natural side of her talent. “Pulkit trusted me with a role very few expected me to do,” she said during the trailer launch in Mumbai. Her words show how she’s grown from a newcomer into someone serious about her craft.

Her honesty balances humility and confidence. “When I first heard about the story, I was surprised because Shalini is so grounded and genuine,” she explained. “Having someone trust me with such a role meant a lot.” For Manushi, acting as Shalini was more than just a job. It was a chance to grow and learn. She spoke highly of working with experienced actors like Rajkummar Rao, as well as the producers and the director. Getting to work with such talent has been a big learning experience for her. “I’m still pretty new to acting, so being around all these skilled people has helped me learn a lot,” she said. “This film allowed me to explore a deeper, more serious side of myself as an actor.”

Maalik, directed by Pulkit and produced by Kumar Taurani and Jay Shewakramani, is a tough gangster story set in 1980s Allahabad. It shows the struggles and battles of people caught in a violent underworld. Rajkummar Rao stars as the main character. Alongside Manushi’s Shalini, the film features strong supporting roles by Prosenjit Chatterjee, Huma Qureshi, and Saurabh Shukla. The movie is set to release on July 11, 2025, and promises a mix of gritty drama and powerful acting.

For Manushi, Maalik is more than just another film. It’s a turning point that opened up new parts of her acting side. It showed she’s ready to take on complex and different kinds of roles.
