Mansoor Khan Reveals Milind Soman Was Dropped From Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar After Aamir Khan’s Request

Mansoor Khan, the brother of Bollywood actor Aamir Khan, made his directorial debut with Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak and then produced another blockbuster with the star in Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar. In a recent conversation with SCREEN, Mansoor talked about how the film's original cast gave him a difficult time and how Aamir saved him.
Due in part to his own casting errors, Mansoor acknowledged that Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar was about to fail. He said that he had made the wrong casting choices and rejected the correct performers during the first selection, necessitating the reshoot of between 60 and 70 percent of the picture. Mansoor said that the movie was going nowhere, even after 40–45 days of filming in and around Ooty and Coonoor, as well as numerous song shoots in Mumbai.
Mansoor Khan explains how the first cast drove him crazy
"I won't mention names, but those individuals were completely unprofessional," he continued. They made life miserable for the whole crew, not just for me. The movie was turning out terribly, and it almost stopped. I considered giving up. The movie, however, is about perseverance and victory. Therefore, life was somewhat reflecting art. We kept silent. We gave those men the boot. They spoke negatively about Aamir and me in the media. However, we said nothing. Our objective was clear: we had to produce a high-quality movie. And the outcome is right in front of you.
Mansoor talks about how Aamir Khan assisted him
Mansoor remembered being miserable and told Aamir Khan that it was he who saved him from it. "Throw these guys out," Aamir said. "We will produce a good picture." I was then in a really bad state of mind, melancholy, and on the verge of a nervous breakdown. I would often wake up crying in the middle of the night throughout the filming. Milind Soman was among the very same people who approached me later. They had no idea how to make movies. They failed to comprehend the director's function, humility, or that the film is greater than any one person, including the director, the producer, or the actor. They had odd concepts when they entered. But once more, I was at fault. They should not have been cast. When Deepak Tijori took over after Milind left, though, the situation improved.
Regarding Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar
Aamir Khan, Ayesha Jhulka, Deepak Tijori, Mamik Singh, Pooja Bedi, and Kulbhushan Kharbanda are among the cast members of the 1992 coming-of-age sports drama. The movie portrays Sanjay, a happy-go-lucky adolescent, as he overcomes all obstacles to win a prestigious inter-school cycling competition and make his family proud. The movie has become a cherished cult classic in Indian film due to its memorable Jatin-Lalit soundtrack and themes of aspiration, competition, and redemption.
