The University of Bradford in England has awarded an honorary doctorate to actress Manisha Koirala. And she is overjoyed by it, claiming that the acknowledgment means a great deal to her.
Gratitude is expressed by Manisha
After the celebration ceremony on Thursday, Manisha posted a snapshot of herself on Instagram and penned a letter of appreciation.
"The University of Bradford's honorary doctorate is a great honor, particularly considering that this is the year that the city was named the UK City of Culture 2025. Sharing this accolade with the gifted Daniel Lee, Creative Director of Burberry, is even more significant, she said.
The actor said, "Congratulations to the Class of 2025 – your journey is just beginning!"
In a video she shared earlier this week from the ceremony, she claimed that she didn't achieve her current position in life through the conventional route of schooling.
"Today, I received an Honorary Doctorate from the University of Bradford. I'm here as someone who learned through life—through perseverance, hard work, failure, and service—rather than someone who followed the traditional educational path.
“I can't express how much this honor means to me,” Manisha said. The University of Bradford deserves appreciation for recognizing the value of my journey, regardless of where it began. It demonstrates that your path is important, no matter where you start.
Regarding Manisha's endeavor
The Nepali romantic drama Pheri Bhetaula was Manisha's debut role. With Subhash Ghai's Saudagar (1991), she made her Bollywood debut and gained popularity through movies like 1942: A Love Story (1994), Bombay (1995), Agni Sakshi (1996), Gupt: The Hidden Truth (1997), Dil Se.. (1998), and Company (2002).
After a lengthy break, Manisha returned to the industry with Lust Stories (2018), notably in Dibakar Banerjee's portion of the collection picture. She played the role of Mallikajaan, a courtesan, in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's recent film, Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar (2024). In the pre-partition era, the Netflix series delves into the complex lives and power relationships between courtesans, British officers, and Nawabs in Lahore's Heera Mandi. The series has been brought back for a second season.
