Maalik, starring Rajkummar Rao, is scheduled to be released soon, and Prosenjit Chatterjee, a well-known Bengali actor who also acted in a number of Hindi movies, is prepared for it. He asked a journalist who asked him a question in Bengali, "Why are you asking me in Bengali?" at a press event he attended a few days ago with the rest of the cast. Following this, he experienced severe criticism on social media. Prosenjit gave his statement on July 10 and expressed remorse for the same.

Prosenjit Chatterjee responded to his recent remark, "why are you asking me in Bengali," during a press conference for Maalik by posting a message in Bengali on his Instagram account on July 10. He received criticism after the video became viral on social media.

“Something I said – or rather, just one sentence – has gone viral on social media in the last several days,” he wrote. About that, I'd want to make a comment. For the past 42 years, I have primarily worked in the Bengali film industry. Only in the last several years have I been able to work on projects covering all of India. Similarly, I attended the trailer release of a Hindi movie that I was involved in at Juhu PVR on July 1.

The actor continued, adding that the majority of the people there, including the movie's director, actors, journalists, and others, spoke English, and that a Bengali journalist asked him a question in Bengali. He has known her for a while and is also rather fond of her. The actor reasoned that because the majority of the audience there did not have a good grasp of Bengali, if he answered in that language, the audience might not comprehend him.

"For this reason, I questioned her, 'Why are you asking me in Bengali?' This is the only video that has been selected and is currently being shared online. Consequently, a lot of people have suffered as a result. "I, too, was and still am hurt. I failed to consider the consequences," he said.

In addition, his letter stated that he was unable to express himself in a few English words and that he thinks this misunderstanding began on that day because he could not fathom disrespecting his native tongue. Prosenjit wrote, "The feelings of people from my native place will always matter the most" because Bengali is the language of his soul. This idea will persist until my very last breath.

"Finally, I would like to express my sincere regret for the pain my remarks have caused you. I have nothing more to say about how I felt about the incident. He ended by saying, "Keep well."
