The Netflix Currently, The Royals is the most popular Indian program. Since its debut on the streaming service a few weeks ago, the program has been popular all over the world. But it has also drawn a great deal of contradictory responses from reviewers and the public. The writing, acting, and representation of royal families in the show have all drawn criticism. However, Lisa Mishra, who portrays Nikki on the series, treats it all with a grain of salt. The musician-turned-actor discusses the show's reception and other topics in an interview with the Hindustan Times.

The Royals by Lisa Mishra

When asked about the mixed reactions to The Royals, Lisa replies, "Yes, there were a lot of people who liked the show and us, and some who did not like it as much, which is natural." However, I'm simply happy that folks listened. You watched it and discussed it, regardless of whether you enjoyed it or not. It probably went viral in 43 nations as a result. Ultimately, that's what art is. Not everyone will enjoy everything you create.

Ishaan Khatter and Bhumi Pednekar play the key roles in The Royals, and the show has a few steamy moments between the two. As expected, an intimacy coordinator was present. In one of the kiss scenes she shared with Kavya Trehan in the series, Lisa even made use of the intimacy coordinator. "I had always thought an intimacy coordinator would be advising you on where to put your hand and other similar technical details," she says of the experience. However, that's not what it's about at all. It's more about feeling at ease and secure. In our situation, Kavya and I had our scenes, and Aastha, our intimacy coordinator, chatted with us about our boundaries and comfort levels. We were mentally prepared by the time we went to film since we had so many conversations.

Regarding striking a balance between performing and composing

Lisa sang and composed songs before deciding to pursue a career in acting. She continues to perform and has just put out a new track. However, there is one thing she is sure of: she does not want to portray a musician on film, at least not at this time. "I made a conscious decision to accept positions that don't need me to be a singer or musician," she explains. "I have performed for shows I am a part of, but that is me contributing to the soundtrack as a musician." I don't want my acting career to be an extension of that. Therefore, the goal is to experiment with something new, be it Call Me Bae or The Royals. And I'll keep attempting to do that.
